Verily Verily, Taiwan

What are my memories about Taiwan. Mosquitoes. 2 times I was there, 2 times bitten badly.

Food? Hmm... Wished I enjoyed them. Sadly, could be better if I did not suffer the bites. Look out for the lovebites.

Penang Trip (4-6 Apr 10)

Went on a short trip to Penang at the beginning of the week. Amidst the heavy workload and the heat, my hubby & I decided to take a break.

Penang was really hot, not a good place to escape to. Thank God, the heat was forgotten with the great place I stayed and good food that we feasted over the few days.

We stayed in G-Hotel. This is a new hotel that is by the beach. Being new, the place is clean and service is good. There is welcome ice-cream served upon check-in, the room smells really good. Porters are always there, friendly. Breakfast - the usual.

Location is the best part. It is away from Georgetown, thus away from city hussle. Beside the hotel, is Gurney Plaza, shopping centre owned by Capitaland. Normal shopping centre. Beside Gurney Plaza is the Gurney Drive Hawker Centre - best place to feast on local specialities.

Upon arrival, we went Gurney Hotel and had naan for lunch. Quite normal actually. Being first time in Penang, we went round on foot. Walked all the way to Georgetown. On the way, we hopped into Hot Wok for dessert. My fren told me the chendol is nice so, must eat la! Indeed, very special, and good for the health conscious. No coconut milk used; soya milk replaced it! Good twist to my liking.

Went round looking at other makan places, though can't bring myself to swallow more food. Dinner was the best - at Gurney Drive Hawker Centre. What did we eat - 1 plate char kueh teow, 1 plate fried oyster, 1 bowl penang laksa, 1 plate rojak, 1 plate fried chicken + chicken skin. All in less than RM25.

Next day, went on a half day round island tour. Felt like a queen. During this low tourists season, we were brought round in a private car. The driver cum tour guide was very friendly and helpful and customized the trip to our needs - which means breaking the rules. At the end of the trip, he sent us back to hotel, to down our load of penang snacks, then dropped us at Penang Road for lunch. This time, had just laksa and chendol. Missed the famous chendol though, but its ok, 'cos this is with coconut milk.

Dinner is at Song River Cafe for another load of local specialities. Roasted drum stick, lor-bar, roti babi, etc.

Verdict 1: Can't beat Gurney Drive Hawker Centre. So, went there for part 2.
Verdict 2: Bad idea to eat there on Monday night, as half the stores are closed, including those I feasted on.

Last day - glutton me decided to have bak-kuet-teh at Zealand BKT for breakfast instead of eating hotel food. Not bad, except a little bit pricey.

Before flying back - we went New World Park for lunch. ARGH... nothing worthy to mention!

Conclusion: best place to eat - Gurney Drive Hawker Centre
When not to go - Monday
Where not to eat - New World Park Hawker or foodcourt.

Printing my Tassie into a book

After staring at our Tassie photos 4 a long long while, we finally designed our photo album and sent it 4 printing 2 sundays ago. Today, finally, we've received the album. Much thanks 2 d easy 2 use Album Stories, the album turned out really good and I'm happy with d results. I'm proud 2 share my album with u. And would be happy 2 recoup some printing cost 2. :-)

10th Wedding Anniversary

My hubby & I went back Tassie last month to commemorate our honeymoon in Tasmania. A celebration of our 10th wedding anniversary.

The locals there are still as friendly. The only difference from our previous experience is that we went through the rain, the shine, the cold and the heat. Above all, the walks we went through. Ib guess we've met the Healthy Lifestyle targets for a year.

We total over 2,000 shots, and thus, had a tough time choosing the photos to upload. Will try to fill you in with more in future. At the meantime, enjoy these...

Farewell LTC Lam, Welcome Mr Lam

Yesterday, on 28 Aug 09, was MHRD's farewell lunch for LTC Lam Wee Shann.

We all tried so hard to make him drop a tear or two, but I think we all failed badly. The farewell party was a simple, yet meaningful , tearing jerking, laughter filled lunch.

Thanks to Wei Ling, Melvyn aka 'Mr Awesome', Yvonne, Esther and many more for making the event possible.

Dept Chalet @ Changi

Have not been updating my blog~ mainly 'cos there is nothing eventful, except for work,work and more work. Finally, my Dept took a break & we've book a unit @ Changi chalet. 3 most enjoyable things that happened

(1) the sharing session on the learning points from the recent HR Summit. We made all of them laugh like mad. Thanks to the mankind who are universally pre-accupied with.... nothing.

(2) seeing my boss & 3 ladies dance doing the chair dance.

(3) the food ~ especially those that we BBQ when Jeanette arrived. Much thanks to Su See for the contribution. The meat was heavenly! My hubby loved them so much.

Sunway Lagoon during Mar 09 School Holidays

This is my 3rd trip to Sunway Lagoon.
This time, its not just with my better half.
This time, its not with my sister in-law and her family.
This time, its with my sister and her family.

As per routine, we headed to Mid-Valley to have lunch at the Penang Cafe. Food is definitely more expensive. But its nice, else I would not be returning to the place again and again. The boy was concerned about the bill cos he heard of the exhorbitant charges. I convinced him that since I (姨妈) paid for the hotel, and that 姨丈 paid for the traveling, his daddy and mummy must then take care of the meals expenses. He decided that daddy will pay for lunches and mummy for dinners.

Dinner at the Zen Japanese Restaurant in Sunway is another routine. Please try it out yourself. See the photos for proofs. **More photos added on 28 Mar 09.**

This time, I've got a free upgrade to a suite with a joining room to my sister's room. **Much thanks** The kids have extended place to roam and play hide-&-seek. And this is the first time to the theme park. Its fun, except that the boy didn't get the chance to visit all the parks 'cos the tickets we have limited us to only 2 parks. Nevermind, 'cos the boy has decided to come again, to visit all the parks.
